Amir Adnan Story

AMIR ADNAN STORY -

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From Ties to Turban embarks on a journey of Amir Adnan, who set out to live his insatiable desire to design outfits that revolutionized mindsets of the modern eastern man in Pakistan. Nobody could’ve thought, this young lad, freed from the prison camps of 1971 war between East and West Pakistan would set out to create a global impact with his name and brand image. From the 1990s Amir Adnan aided in the evolution of men’s fashion in Pakistan when as a business graduate by profession, he stepped out to realize his own individual style, at the same time translating it to the demands of a frustrated market.

Belonging to a non-industrialist background didn’t seem to hinder his passion and growth, because from earlier on, Amir Adnan showcased utmost resilience in every circumstance he found himself in. Whether it was graduating from Institute of Business Administration with a core-business degree to securing a job at a bank where 9-5 shifts slowly killed his creativity, Amir Adnan managed to beat against the odds and envisioned his own success story.Amir never shied away from harnessing his innate talent to design. And wasn’t long until he found himself on the streets of India, mesmerized by the ties made out of checkered fabric typically used for lounges. It was in those ties, that he saw his dream to design metamorphosing into a reality. A trip that was solely meant for a bank-training session ended up churning the wheels of design and creativity for Amir Adnan. Upon returning, he was all set to design his ties and wear them to work every day.

This charged him with energy to revolutionize mind sets and stimulate the senses of the modern eastern man. He set out to then design his first range of italic jeans, conventional denim block printed with a hint of ethnicity, and launched them locally and internationally. The juxtaposition of two seemingly heterogeneous cultures set the international market on fire, giving Adnan his cue to venture up the same path. The path of fashion and design was relatively unknown at that time but it took him from strength to strength to international fame which enjoys even to this day.
He soon realized that fashion to him is not about modernizing culture but more about making one's identity universally acceptable. His mission was to revive the sherwani, the traditional long coat, which was buried with the lords and maharajas of yesteryear. The modern day man had adopted the western three piece suit as the only acceptable vision of grooms wear and Adnan had vowed to change that. He had the vision to see that it was Pakistan’s indigenous craft and attire which would make it to the international map of fashion.

Introducing outfits upon outfits, almost a decade later, Amir Adnan's design philosophy evolved clearly, marking itself permanently on the map. He became the largest enterprise of designer clothing in Pakistan through his skill of envisioning an enterprise, creating a retail and manufacturing unit structure that serve as living examples of text-book business models.

Now with 28 years running into the business of fashion, Amir Adnan has come a long way from selling ties from his one-bedroom apartment to running a legacy of a multifaceted company that has caught the fancy of presidents and celebrities such as Pervez Musharaf, Shaukat Aziz, Vajpayee, ShashiTharoor and Shah Rukh Khan to name a few.

From Ties to Turban is a riveting account of Amir Adnan’s journey that will entice students of business, fashion design and entrepreneur and aid them to seek a broader understanding of how to single-handedly create and run an enterprise in the Pakistani fashion industry.
